The new third kit pays tribute to the dynamic and diverse country, from its natural landscape to its vibrant culture. The third shirt uses a dark, almost black, shade of green, which is said to represent the country’s lush landscape and urban nightlife. The Nike ‘swoosh’ and the crest stands out in a vivid yellow.
Similar to Brazil’s national home kit, which we reported on here, the third uniform displays an illustration on the inside of the collar. Created by Bruno Big, a designer from Rio de Janeiro, the illustration shows a hand in a figa – the Brazilian equivalent to the “fingers crossed” gesture, a traditional superstition believed to bring good luck.
The shorts pay tribute to another sport, surfing, which is loved by Brazilians, and have a longer cut than traditional football shorts. Blue, green and yellow horizontal stripes make reference to Brazil’s national flag. Green socks complete the new strip.
